Amazon is divulging a new version of its popular ebook reader which will be known as Kindle, includes a retractable LED light that will light up the whole display of the Kindle. This light is built into the case which connects to the Kindle and uses its battery power. It will now come in two colors graphite and the original white.
The Kindle still holds on to the same 6-inch size but is 21% smaller, 15% lighter and offers 20% faster page turns and 50% better contrast than previous Kindles. The storage has been increased to 4GB and the battery is rated at 10 days with wireless on and a month without.
The new Kindle will be available in the U.S. starting on August 27 in two models; a WiFi Only Kindle for $139 and a 3G Kindle for $189. Amazon will also be releasing a UK version of the Kindle with localized pricing of £109 for the WiFi only model and £149 for the 3G model.
There is no denying that the Kindle has completely transformed the world of books, competition has popped up from every major book retailer, and really made ebooks a very popular choice for travelers.
