There are two method of installing apps on BlackBerry first by air and second by desktop manager. Today i m going to walk through the basic steps of installing them. So, first i will tell you about most easiest way to install apps on your BlackBerry by using OTA (over the air) technology. Ota stands for over the air. You can Download Free BlackBerry apps from my previous post. By using this you just browse the location from were you download the app. Here you found download button you click, choose download and it’s installed right now to your BlackBerry. Some times reboot is required to be sure that its installation is smoothly and quick. Here i will give you an example of ota link. Enter the following in your Blackberry browser: http://www.wireless18.com/wap .Once downloaded your phone will ask if you want to save and run it, say yes to install. Many of us preferred this method of installing.
The second method of installing apps through the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. In order to install apps on your smart phone you first need BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
You can get the latest BlackBerry Desktop Manager here.
By installing BlackBerry Desktop Manager you are able to istall apps. Sometime the apps you download by use of pc, as thay come in zip formate. This will install to wherever you designate it to be saved. I always use my desktop. Then you click on the downloaded zip, right click on the file, and extract the files to one you designate. After that, you will see that you now have two files like jad and jar.
Now, the question how to transffer these files into your BlackBerry ?
Step 1
* Connect your BlackBerry to your computer via the USB cable that came with it, or any USB cable that fits.
* Start the DM.
Step 2
- You have a few choices to select from here.
- Click on Application Loader, as seen highlighted above.
STEP 3
- In this screen you have two options to select from.
- Select Add/Remove
Step 4
- You should now see something like what you see above.
- From this screen, click browse.
STEP 5
- Once you click browse you will see a file search screen like the one above.
- Go to and locate where you unzipped the application/theme files.
- Make sure you unzipped both the alx file and cod file in the same folder. If you don’t the installation will fail.
- After finding the alx file (for this tutorial it is ziplorer.alx) for the application, highlight it and click open.
STEP 6
- You will now return to the Application Loader screen.
- From here you should see Ziplorer now listed with Install under the Action column.
- Click next.
STEP 7
- You will now see what actions will be taken with your BlackBerry.
- In this screen, you should only see that you are adding Ziplorer.
- Click finish.
STEP 8
- You’re done!
- You can now exit the DM and disconnect your BlackBerry.
That’s it! I usually do a battery pull to allow my BlackBerry to start up fresh after application installations and the like, I suggest you do the same.
I hope you all found this tutorial useful. Keep in touch and up to date your self.
