Launch of Google’s Offline Access Of Gmail, Calendar & Docs

Google is always trying to make very good image. This time Google is working to improve their offline presence. It can be used by downloading Google Chrome App. With this you can access your email, documents and calendar anytime you want.

This is done to support those users that really need to access their services with no Internet connection. Moreover, the app will be very helpful for airplane passengers or while waiting in a place that has either expensive Internet connection or no coverage area.   


When into Google App , all the applications are widely used and accessing these applications offline can help many to trust mail than ever, Google team is in its way to bring offline versions to all leading apps in near future. The offline icon looks like this:


How to use?

First download Google Chrome App (link provided above). After installation this app will find a new tab on chrome and will open in new tab in a tabbed interface, actually this is the mobile interface used in phones and in tabs where mail availability is possible in offline mode too.

See the below image, it will look like this:

Options available for this application can be accessed with context menu (right click on the icon). We can open it on pinned tab (smaller tab), in new window or in full screen and at the same time we can create shortcuts on Desktop or on Quick launch. See the below link:


When created in Quick Launch it will look like this:


We can allow this application to sync with our online content by letting Chrome to Run applications on background. For this goto:

Settings >> Under the Bonnet check “Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed”. Check below image for this:


This will let chrome to run on tray when closed, like this:


Once checked Gmail will Download your mails from Google Servers to your Chrome for offline access and I’ll show how much downloaded on left bottom pane as below:

When this synchronization is over you will be able to access all your mails and you can even archive mails from this tabbed interface, the compose window also got even better, you can save draft locally and send later from here. See the below image, it will look like this:
